Product Engineer (m/w/d)

Two years ago, we would have been looking for a "TypeScript ninja" here.

Deep technical skills count more than ever today – only the bottleneck has changed.

It's no longer about how fast you type, but how well you can judge what an agent produces.

Writing the lines becomes cheap; knowing what good software looks like – clean types, OOP where it wears, an architecture that lasts – becomes a crucial skill.

Add to that what lies before and after the code: a sense of what really makes the product better, and the ability to direct agents so that something viable emerges in the end.

We call this role Product Engineer – someone who owns a piece of product from idea to production, not someone who handles tickets.

You bring in your own ideas, decide on the solution, build it with agents, verify it and ship it.

You don't fill this position, you help shape it.

How we work At Orbit, AI is not a tool you use on the side, but the way we work.

Everyone thinks of their area as a system of workflows, context and automation, not as a list of tasks to be completed in the morning.

Agentic, not vibe coding.

Vibe coding means throwing prompts at a model and hoping for the best.

Scrum, story points, and sprint ceremonies were invented for a world where people wrote every line themselves.

That agents benefit from this is the bonus. AI-first before escalation.

Before you give a problem to a colleague, you work it through as an Operator of Intelligence: with real context, as writing is the most important skill.

If you cannot write clearly, in a structured and precise way, it is difficult for us because our way of working (and our agents) require it.

Location EU – Since our customers and our product are German-speaking, good German is an advantage.

Nice-to-have, no need: logistics or forwarding experience – smart people learn our domain quickly.

Learning ability beats industry knowledge.

We love deep, clean coding.

But part of our role is to think along with the product, to contribute our own ideas and to be responsible for a piece of product beyond mere execution. AI is a hype or a chat interface for you.

Then we don't fit together.

You need a lot of meetings to feel aligned.

With us, write it down or it doesn't exist.
