Here's the conversation you're all waiting for, The Maccabees are back, and they're doing it with style.

Here's the conversation you're all waiting for, The Maccabees are back, and they're doing it with style. I caught up with their Edinburgh show last night, and let me tell you, it was a night to remember. Felix White, Orlando Weeks, and co. Took to the intimate stage at the Corn Exchange, ready to dish out a set that would leave the crowd wanting more.
The Maccabees are an indie band that's been away for a minute, but it's clear they've been working hard to get back to their musical mojo. Speaking to NME ahead of their reunion shows, Orlando Weeks said, "I loved it, it's my favourite memories of playing with Maccs." That enthusiasm is infectious, and it's clear the band is more than just a reunion, they're a group of friends who've rekindled their passion for music. As Weeks explained, "Even from a practical point of view, if you take away the emotional, sentimental goodness of it, we all know how to do it and we've been away for long enough that to redo it is so nice."
Last night's show was a masterclass in new music, with the band debuting a new song called 'Ballad Of So Long'. The slow-burner has a twinkling lead guitar motif and quietly passionate vocals from Weeks, as he lingers on the refrain, "I loved you so much." It's a beautiful track that showcases the band's ability to craft something truly special. Weeks introduced the song to the crowd with a tongue-in-cheek remark: "Would anyone like to hear a new song? OK, just remember this is the first time, it's like introducing a new person. Be polite, you don't have to be super friendly, they're new to the party." The crowd was more than happy to oblige, and 'Ballad Of So Long' received a rapturous reception.
The setlist was a mix of old and new, with fans getting to hear a range of tracks from the band's back catalogue, including 'Love You Better', 'Latchmere', and 'Feel To Follow'. But it was the new material that really stole the show, with 'Ballad Of So Long' being just one of two unfamiliar titles spotted in the band's rehearsal post last month. The other song, 'She', has fans speculating that the band could be preparing to play new material on the road. Whatever the case, it's clear The Maccabees are back, and they're ready to rock.
As The Maccabees continue their tour, I think it's fair to say that their future is looking bright. With a new song under their belt and a renewed passion for music, they're in a great place to create something truly special. As Felix White said, "If we can find that secret again, that will be really amazing." I think it's safe to say that secret is well within their grasp. So, if you're in the UK and haven't got tickets for their upcoming shows, get on it, you won't want to miss this chance to see The Maccabees in action.
